Here I Am Orphan Ministries will not take a mission team to Colombia in 2011. Please continue to check back for details as HIAOM plans to return to Colombia in 2012.
Adoptive families traveling to Bogota, Colombia have found an orphanage with great needs. The Home for the Protection of Girls is an orphanage that cares for seventy girls, ages seven to sixteen. The caregivers have a great love for the girls, but they have limited resources. Here I Am Orphan Ministries has identified some of the needs of the orphanage and has committed to helping with some of these needs on an ongoing basis.
Donate Specifically For Colombian Orphans Here.
Those in charge of the orphanage have stated that the greatest need that the girls have is for an adoptive family. Would you please join us in praying for these young girls, and help us in advocating for adoptive families? Contact us if you would like more informtion on children we have identified from Colombia who are available for adoption. The law prohibits us from placing their pictures on the internet.
Some of orphanage needs that we have addressed include:
Mattresses for the 70 girls at Amparo De Ninas
A washing machine and 2 clothes dryers
A hot food serving table
Spanish Bibles for all of the girls
Personal hygiene items
Undergarments
Clothing
Eye glasses for 23 girls
Blankets, teddy bears, and socks for the girls at Christmas
In addition to the girls orphanage, HIAOM has begun to develop a relationship with a boys orphanage in the city, as well. Amparo de Ninos is a home to seventy five boys ages six to sixteen.
This orphanage has been a blessing to visit as mission trip attendees get to learn from the boys living there about all the things they are trained to do. Boys living here learn farming and agriculture skills, how to work with livestock, how to bind books, broom-making, baking, and more.
Here I Am Orphan Ministries last traveled to Bogota in June of 2008. We wish we could show you all the pictures of the little ones we met on that trip, but want to respect the laws of the the country as they work to protect their children. Here are a few pictures from that trip!
