Come and join Here I Am Orphan Ministries on our first trip to Guatemala! Maria Webb and Meeting Needs Ministry has traveled to the country to minister in the past, and now Maria is serving on the Advisory Board of HIAOM to help us continue the work the Lord led her to begin there. With the board members and ministry friends who have traveled to Guatemala previously with MNM and new friends who know the country well, we are excited to travel and minister to between 600 - 650 orphaned children in five different orphanages throughout the country.

The total cost for the trip to Guatemala is $1,200. This covers your airfare, motel, in country transportation, and meals.

25% of the payment is due by February 01, 2010

50% of the paynment is due by February 20, 2010.

100% of the payment is due at the team meeting on March 6, 2010.

It is the desire of Here I Am Orphan Ministries to spend time ministering to orphan children by meeting their physical needs first, then telling them about the plan of salvation through Jesus Christ. The need for food is great in Guatemala, as well as the need for shoes, clothing, and school supplies. With the exception of food the thing most requested by the orphanages it that we come and spend time with the children because they do not get many visitors. Here I Am Orphan Ministries is excited to announce that we will be returning to El Salvador in August. With the board members and ministry friends who have traveled to El Salvador previously with HIAOM who know the country well, we are excited to travel and minister to seven different orphanages throughout the country.

The cost of the trip has been tentatively set at $1,100. Pictures of the orphanages and country will be posted along with more details in April. This trip will be limited to 16 people.

The needs are great in El Salvador, and we request your prayers for the trip and for the children there. Stay tuned and let us know if you're interest in going on this trip!

If you are planning to attend any trip, here is what you need to do:

1. Complete the online Mission Trip Application, and submit a $25 application fee (payable online or by mail). The fee will be held until your application is accepted. In the event that the application is not accepted or the project is canceled, the fee will be returned. Once your application is accepted, you will be placed on the short-term team and the fee is non-refundable.

2. Once you receive notification that your application has been accepted, we will send you an information packet. It contains all your trip information and there are a series of forms for you to complete. You will need to complete the forms that are in your packet as well as these two online forms:

3. Along with your information packet, we will send you a copy of the book Fields of the Fatherless by Tom Davis, and we ask that you read it before we leave on the trip. At the team planning meeting we'll discuss aspects of working with orphans, and this book is an excellent introduction to how we serve as the hands and feet of Christ when ministering to orphans. If you already own or have read Fields of the Fatherless, let us know in your mission trip application, and we will instead send you Tom Davis' new release, Red Letters: Living a Faith That Bleeds. It is full of personal challenges from God's Word, and will also bring up excellent discussion topics for the group.
